Join us at NorthCreek Church in Walnut Creek as Bay Area churches gather to be better equipped for life in an increasingly foreign land.
Who is this conference for?
If you are interested in learning from the book of Ephesians about how God has gloriously entrusted the gospel gifts of new life, unity, mission, and power to His people for the fulfillment of His plan and purpose in our region, then this conference is for you! The day will also include be worship, teaching, and fellowship with other gospel-minded attendees.
Our three plenary speakers will guide us from the apostle Paul's letter to the Ephesians by exploring how God has gloriously entrusted the gospel gifts of new life, unity, mission, and power for the fulfillment of His plan and purpose in our region.

Workshop Leaders & Descriptions
We are also pleased to feature five workshop selections focusing on race, Islam, corporate worship, a pastors’ Q&A, and sexuality. See below for complete workshop details.
- Mike Goeke - "Sexuality in a Foreign Land"
Our local church members are regularly confronted with a sexual ethic that is foreign to a commitment to Christ. There are those in our churches who struggle with various sexual sins, and we must learn how to more faithfully minister to them. An important question that must be answered is how to engage those in the culture in truth and love? This workshop will help start the conversation and will share practical steps for discipleship and evangelism regarding sexuality.
- Matt Boswell - "The Church Gathered"
When the church gathers corporately, what is its aim and ambition? With as important as worship in song is, sometimes our church’s corporate music—our doxology—can slide into a programmatic or pragmatic paradigm. But with so many options and approaches to corporate worship in song, it is more important than ever—for the growth of our churches—that our doxology reflect a gospel-centered theology. Join Matt Boswell in this workshop that brings clarity to why and how the church should gather.
- Afshin Ziafat - "The Mosque Next Door"
In the last decade, Islam in America has made rapid strides, which can cultivate the potential for suspicion, tension, or worse. It can be difficult for the church to know how best to love and witness to Muslim neighbors, friends, and co-workers. In this workshop, Afshin Ziafat will help us see what it looks like to build gospel relationships with our Muslim neighbors around us.
- D. A. Carson - "Q & A"
As a prolific writer and a beloved seminary professor, Don Carson has influenced a generation of Christian leaders. In 2004, he and Tim Keller started The Gospel Coalition to encourage “the renewal of faith in the gospel and the reformation of ministry practices.” This Q and A workshop is an opportunity for you to ask Dr. Carson questions about the Gospel, the church and ministry practices in our day.
- Danté Upshaw & Andrew Hoffman- "Race in the New Community"
Issues of race and ethnicity have rocketed to the forefront of the cultural conversation in the U.S. As Christians, we know Christ has broken down the barriers that divide races and we know the heavenly vision includes peoples from all nations. What does it mean to live out the multi-ethnic dimensions of the Gospel and how might we move our congregations in that direction? In this workshop, Danté Upshaw will help us think through these and other critical questions.
